Today is 'Never Bean Better Day' - a day that honors the unique bond between humans and therapy dogs, specifically spotlighting a special dog named Bean. This day encourages people to recognize the comforting and healing power these animals bring into the lives of those who need it most.

History of Never Bean Better Day

Never Bean Better Day was established on August 22, 2017, to honor a therapy dog named Bean. Bean, born in 2009 in Morgantown, Pennsylvania, quickly became more than just a pet. By the age of two, Bean was a certified therapy dog, visiting hospitals, schools, nursing homes, and rehabilitation centers. His presence brought comfort and joy to many, especially those struggling with illness or emotional distress.

Why I think it's important to be aware on Therapy Animals

First of all because my wife and I worked with animals for so many years to help people. My wife was a hippotherapist. Hippotherapy is a physical, occupational, and speech therapy that utilizes the natural gait and movement of a horse to provide motor, and sensory input. It is based on improvement of neurologic functions, and sensory processes, and used for patients with physical, and mental disorders.

Therapy animals have a remarkable ability to provide comfort and healing to individuals in need. Whether it be a therapy dog, cat, or horse, these animals bring a sense of calm and relief to those who are struggling with physical or emotional challenges. Their presence and companionship can have a profound impact on the lives of those who need it most, offering a source of support and solace during difficult times.

One of the most well-known types of therapy animals is the therapy dog. These specially trained dogs are able to provide a sense of comfort and emotional support to individuals in hospitals, nursing homes, schools, and other settings. Their friendly and gentle nature can help to soothe anxious feelings, reduce stress, and provide a sense of companionship to those who may be feeling lonely or isolated. Additionally, therapy dogs have been shown to have a positive effect on mental health, helping individuals to feel more relaxed and at ease.

Therapy cats are also commonly used to provide comfort and companionship to individuals in need. Like therapy dogs, therapy cats are able to offer emotional support and a sense of calm to those who are struggling with physical or emotional challenges. Their gentle and affectionate nature can help to bring a sense of warmth and comfort to individuals who may be feeling distressed or overwhelmed. Additionally, spending time with a therapy cat can provide a source of stress relief and offer a distraction from difficult emotions.

In addition to dogs and cats, therapy animals such as horses have also been found to have a profound impact on the lives of those in need. Equine therapy, also known as horse therapy, involves interactions between individuals and horses as a way to promote emotional growth and healing. Horses have a unique ability to sense and respond to human emotions, providing a source of comfort and support to individuals who may be struggling with trauma, anxiety, or other emotional challenges. Spending time with horses can help individuals to feel more grounded and connected, offering a sense of peace and serenity in the midst of difficult times.

Overall, therapy animals have a remarkable ability to provide comfort and healing to those in need. Whether it be through the gentle and affectionate nature of therapy dogs and cats, or the intuitive and comforting presence of therapy horses, these animals bring a sense of calm and relief to individuals who may be struggling with physical or emotional challenges. Their companionship and support can have a profound impact on mental health and emotional well-being, offering a source of comfort and solace to those who need it most.
