Empowerment Songs

Image

Uplifting Songs - On Blue Monday

Image
Blue Monday rolls around every year on the third Monday in January. The meaning of this day is filled with controversy because it is supposedly the saddest day of the year. Many of us find ourselves in subzero weather this time of year, which day might be better to share a few uplifting songs? As I already shared before, I am a firm believer that music and dancing affects our brain, mood and emotions.  Music is known to tap into various parts of the brain, that is why it is utilized by many experts in treating depressed or anxious patients. Johnny Cash once said ‘They're powerful, those songs. At times they've been my only way back, the only door out of the dark, bad places the black dog calls home.’ Here is a link to a video which explains the ' Black Dog ' and now the uplifting songs I like to share with you. Phil Collins - It's Alright Peter Gabriel - Don't Give Up Talk Talk - Life's What You Make It Frankie Goes To Hollywood - Relax Pearl Jam - A...

My New Year's Resolutions 2023

Image
In the last two years I wrote a lot about serious topics - and a lot about awareness and having fun here and there - and I decided to find a few New Resolutions - for having more fun in 2023 The following list covers fun ideas and challenges to try throughout the year that may or may not exist on anyone's bucket list—but should! 😎 You'll also find tucked away here and there a few tongue-in-cheek resolutions you are guaranteed to keep- cause I have no doubt you're already doing them. (Happy hour wine, anyone?). Whatever way you slice it, make 2023 a year you can look back on and smile and feel less stressed about. I am looking forward - perhaps even more ideas of New Year's resolutions - and maybe I will extend the list 😀 Stop drinking my morning coffee AFTER I brushed my teeth. And drink my coffee while it’s hot Wine down the day with a glass of vino…oh, wait, I’ve already perfected that resolution.  Stay in interesting Airbnb’s (treehouses, teepees, Airstreams, etc.)...

Songs about Hope, Faith and Courage - Part 2

Image
It’s strange and turbulent times we’re living in, and we all need a good boost of hope and optimism from time to time. Let me share a few songs about hope, from energetic tunes that will lift your spirits to calm, hopeful melodies. This is the second list of songs about hope, faith and courage - and here the link to my first list . Simply Red - "Holding Back The Years" This song plays with an idea and a thought of someone about to put and leave a part of his life behind. Or This song plays with the thought of someone about to leave a part of their life behind. Or to put it another way, he is in the process of breaking away from a familiar way of living and setting out to find his own future, his own life. But he also has fears and apprehensions about actually doing so. Or as the song puts it he is “holding back the years”, as in clinging to the thing which were for so long familiar. Eminem - “Not Afraid” Since the very first moment I heard this song - I took it as a message t...

Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened

Image
" Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened " a quote by Theodor Seuss Geisel (American children's author, political cartoonist, illustrator, poet, animator, and filmmaker) All too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. Have you ever tried to hold on to a happy memory and thought so tightly that it hurt or almost made you hurt? People try so hard throughout their lives to hold on to memories of a happier time, almost to the point that that memory becomes a weight on their shoulders.  Every time we go back to that memory, the feelings of happiness and joy come back, if only for a moment, and then they go away, because life isn’t stuck in time. But of course this isn’t exactly the easiest thing to understand, so people get sad - and yes, they probably shed a tear or two… or three, or a hundred. It's OK and ...

Elixir of Life - Music & Dance - Part of Life and Well Being

Image
We only hear a few notes - and we are already mentally traveling back in time, to a memory, to place or person we are connecting to it. Many songs are linked to people, places and experiences. Music has magical powers. It can make us happy or thoughtful, can comfort us or uplift us. Our life would not be the same without sounds and tones. We experience many feelings more intensely through them. Perhaps the greatest benefit of music is that it can reunite us with feelings we need, but have lost touch with. It can offer dignity to our sorrows, framing and containing what might otherwise be unmanageable grief. Music returns us to life, gently nudging us to return to the side of generosity, hope and compassion. It can take us beyond the everyday world, to transcend the ordinary and view ourselves from a lofty height. It reconnects us with our instinctual, bodily selves when reason, logic and discipline are in danger of crushing us. And it can break down the barriers between strangers – urg...

Take care of your own needs and your power balance - Self-care is important for everyone!

Image
Nowadays we all forced - not only by the pandemic. The everyday life, each business is subject to a constantly, permanently faster, changing world. and we all often have more than one role - at home, in business, spare time ... even as I am no father or mother - and even this article will be of help for everyone - this time I like to emphasize mothers and care-givers (I took care on my wife for 11 years 24/7 ) - especially mothers and care-givers are needing short breaks for self-care even more - mothers take care on so much up from the first blink of the baby's eye. Mothers and care-givers are often under constant stress almost around the clock.  No matter what your job is - self-care is very important. So that you can do your job, so that you can be there for your family AND be there for yourself. We all know that we cannot take care of others or do our best if we don't take care of ourselves as well. Take care of your own needs and your power balance and listen to your...
