Equal Care Day 2024 - February 29

Image
On February 29, the 'Equal Care Day' initiative draws attention to the lack of appreciation of care work. It is a reminder of the low status that care work as a whole, the education and upbringing of children, caring for the sick, the elderly and people with disabilities has in our society. Care means the fair and equal distribution of care work; fair not only in terms of distribution between the sexes, but also between rich and poor, old and young, newcomers and long-established residents. Why should I care about equal care? Well, this is a tricky, potentially contentious issue that comes up at some point in every relationship. As someone who cared for his wife daily, often 24/7 for more than ten years, this topic is of personal significance to me - I continue to advocate for the cause personally and fortunately also in my workplace, for caregiving and caregivers, three years subsequent to my wife's passing. It's challenging for all of us to navigate this, whether it...

Objective of World Cancer Day 2024 is this year: "Together, we challenge those in power" .  With this year's theme, “Together, we challenge those in power,” advocates urge global leaders to eliminate health inequities in cancer care and address their root causes. World Cancer Day is an important day and momentum for us World Cancer Day is an important day and momentum for us to reflect on how we are contributing and collaborating with the cancer community to close the cancer care gap. This World Cancer Day is a powerful opportunity to speak out, to call for action, to listen to cancer patients and their families, and to give them a voice. The day aims to promote awareness about cancer. It also helps to strengthen actions that strive to improve cancer care, detection, preventive measures and treatment. Cancer is a large group of diseases that can affect any organ or tissue of the body - and everyone. All people at average risk should start testing at age 45, so talk ...

Breast Cancer Awareness for Women and Men

Image
Breast cancer awareness is a key component of early detection efforts. It is essential that women know the most common symptoms associated with breast cancer, such as lumps and thickenings, and understand that prompt evaluation and early detection improves outcome. While breast cancer is typically associated with women, it's important to remind men that they too can be affected by this disease. And I speak from personal experience. It's a fact that one out of every 100 breast cancer cases is diagnosed in a man. It's crucial to understand your family's history of breast cancer because inherited gene mutations that increase the risk can be passed down from both parents. Male breast cancer is a disease in which malignant (cancer) cells form in the tissues of the breast. Breast cancer may occur in men at any age, but it usually occurs in men between 60 and 70 years of age. Keep it on your  mind even, as already mentioned M ale breast cancer makes up less than 1% of all case...

World Men's Day on November 3rd and International Men’s Day on the 19th of November

I wrote a number of articles about awareness, emotions, feelings . Even we talk about these aspects a little bit more - in our society, people are rarely taught how to express their feelings and so it can be very difficult to know where or how to start. In fact, if you're like most men, and I am not only talking about these masculine men - we are still i a society where men will find it difficult to even notice how they are even feeling, like how their boss' mood can affect them, or how the stress of tight schedules can affect them. And when someone asks how they are doing, they're so disconnected from their own emotions that they fall back on the usual "I'm doing fine" making it harder for anyone to offer any support. However, ignoring feelings will not make them go away. The more we ignore our feelings, the bigger they become. I have often seen men appear  sane, healthy, and calm before bursting out in a burst of anger or aggression when something bad happen...
