Dankbarkeit: Der Schlüssel zum Glück

Image
Dankbarkeit i...

Find the Beauty and the Wonder and the Magic and the Humor in Everything - even Life Get Tough

Image
Yesterday I became aware of Hanna or better a good colleague made me aware by Linkedin. Hanna faced and is facing ALS - and I see - no there are so many things in common - My wife came down with PPMS (Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis) which is characterized by a gradual, steady and often uniformly continuously worsening of symptoms without relapse. As well, for my wife's disease there was no way of predicting how this was going to progress. Many people can live for decades with Multi Sclerosis and as well with PPMS (Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis) but my wife only had less than one decade from completely healthy to having only the ability to move the middle three fingers of her left hand in the morning hours.  People with PPMS and ALS and many other similar diseases know that they have only a limited time. These diseases attack certain nerves of the body, affecting muscle and nerve function. For that reason, they share many of the same symptoms, especially i...

International Day of Happiness - March 20th

Image
International Day of Happiness aims to celebrate happiness all over the world, inspiring people to spread positivity, whether big or small, with others and encouraging each nation to prioritize the happiness of its citizens. March 20th is the UN International Day of Happiness . We can create a happier and kinder world together by adopting simple, daily practices. This year’s theme is: ‘ Be Mindful. Be Grateful. Be Kind ’ Maybe you’ve always thought of yourself as being a “glass half full” or “glass half empty” kind of person.  And many people think, that’s just the way they were born. - I firmly believe it is the way how they see the world, their life or in the very moment. While some people seem to be naturally happier and some have to work harder at it, everyone can implement practices in their lives shown to elevate satisfaction and joy.  Research tells us that when people feel happier, they are more resilient, more productive at work, and nicer to be around. We are simply ...

Find Inner Peace

Image
There are many reasons why inner peace is important in all aspects of life - but the most important reason is YOU! Inner peace means being calmness - mentally and spiritually calm - being aware of yourself, in sync with yourself, with your emotions despite the everyday challenges of life. When you found and have peace of mind, you’ll not be swayed by what people think about you or the events and challenges you encounter. They allow us to overcome the problems that life hands us and all the curveballs and trick plays of life. Self-awareness, love and peace of mind do protect you. It teach us to survive… to live now… to have the courage to confront each day. Finding inner peace is a personal experience, and peace means something different for everyone. There are several ways to find peace within yourself  - being at peace with yourself can mean: Feeling secure about yourself and your path Being mindful and self-aware Finding the ability to let go No matter how you achieve it, in...

Image
The secret of Joy, the upcoming holidays and New Year's Eve is from my point of view ... while all too many people are looking and searching something great and extraordinary ... we miss all to often the inconspicuous, small, little enlightening glitter and stars. Remember with gratitude the positive moments in your life, especially in the recent year. May the stars light up your way into the new year so that you can go your way full of confidence, strength and courage.  Just an idea - what about starting the next year with a daily practice of gratitude? It can help you recognize the positive in your life instead of focusing on the negative. And being thankful and grateful for all the good things you have can actually make you happier. All friends and readers - a merry Christmas and a happy new year. It was a special, difficult, beautiful, challenging year ... and so perhaps the next year will be too - but as well with wonderful sunrises, sunsets, ... and wonderful people - just as...

World Kindness Day 2022

Image
World Kindness Day is today, it is an international observance on 13 November. It was introduced in 1998. Kindness is defined by doing something towards yourself and others, motivated by genuine desire to make a positive difference. We know that kindness and our mental health are deeply connected. Kindness is an antidote to isolation and creates a sense of belonging. It helps reduce stress, brings a fresh perspective and deepens friendships. Kindness to ourselves can prevent shame from corroding our sense of identity and help boost our self-esteem. Kindness can even improve feelings of confidence and optimism.  We're all familiar with the saying “it's better to give than receive”. What might surprise you is that this is actually backed up by research. Kindness to others involves a desire to create positive relationships of trust, reliability, dependability, connection, support, and honesty. Kindness and goodwill are values we all should care about and both refer to the motivati...

Autumn and Winter Blues - Mental health

Image
When the days are getting shorter - it is normal and extremely common to feel a kind of autumn or winter blues - many people feel sluggish and down during these months. With decreased sunlight and shorter days during the winter, our vitamin D, serotonin, and melatonin levels can become low, which exacerbates depression and other changes of their mood. When the weather is cold, people tend to stay indoors and become socially isolated especially or even more during the still ongoing time of Covid. They may also get less exercise, which can cause weight gain, lethargy, and lower mood. What can you do to beat the blues when the short, dark days are getting you down? A few hints I like to share ...  1. Practice gratitude and awareness Our thoughts precede our emotions and behaviors, so keep your thinking positive. Did you ever thought about autumn and its beauty? Autumn shows us how beautiful it is to let things go. Autumn can be seen as a second spring - when every leaf is a ...

Gratefulness / Thankfulness

Image
The world is full of opportunities and we are choice makers. We have to and can choose the angel to look at every event and take it as a learning experience. Gratitude greatly improves every aspect of your life. Learning more gratitude, being more thankful, is not only the way to more happiness and satisfaction. Becoming more grateful is the perfect antidote to frustration, envy, and anger.  Gratitude is what we long for the most: recognition and appreciation for what we have achieved, a simple “thank you” for a good, generous deed. Writers, philosophers and grandparents regularly remind and advice us, rightly to be so and feel that way. Being thankful is an essential key to a happy and fulfilling life but as well for success.  Gratitude is more than saying “thank you” because someone has done you a favor. Being grateful is an attitude. And a way of living. It has been proven that enjoying the little things in life leads to more happiness. If you establish a grateful atti...
