Ambivalenzen rund um die Sterbehilfe

Image

Permission To Rest

Image
The importance of rest cannot be overstated!  Our attention is an energy / a resource - and resources are finite.  Real breaks are time-outs that are officially ours. Work requires often more than we like to really see and realize it requires to focus and pull ourselves together, breaks and free time allow the mind to wander, the body to recover. It is also important to be able to mentally distance yourself from work and really switch off. There are consequences of resting too less: Burnout Bitterness/resentment Physical and mental health issues A lack of interest and focus in things we usually find interesting and meaningful Feeling like you are in a constant state of overwhelm and operating from your reserves (not abundance) We need to give ourselves permission to rest. AND ... resting is not a waste of time! "We live in a society that HIGHLY values productivity and accomplishment." In a world that relies on our willingness to exhaust ourselves to the point we can't fun...

Empathy - What it is - Why it Matters - How to Practice

Image
Feeling to stand or even work in somebody else’s shoes, to anticipate how they see through their eyes, feel what they feel, that’s how good life can happen, good relations run and peace exist. And it’s up to me, you and evryone who is open to be empathic to let it happen. Empathy is a quality of character that can change the world. Authentic Life and Empathy Living an authentic life was always something I did. I defined myself as someone who isn’t afraid to be true to who I am, including my personality, values, and principles in life. I didn't bother compromising the entirety of who I am just for the comfort of others. Rather, I most often stuck to who I am regardless of what others think of me. But as I grow older, and faced a number of really challenging things in live including a few on a knife edge - step by step I realized I can live even more authentic and honest when I let people closer at me and that I can grow by that. I learned that a team, a society, a family is more tha...

What makes a life worth living or to pull the ripcord - let's talk about death and our dying

Image
When and why a person perceives their life as bearable or even successful, or when and why one would rather want to be dead, cannot generally defined or is  generally applicable or universally valid and true for each and everyone - the answer is unique - and that makes it complicate - but anyway decisions about dead or alive are and should be never easy. There are people, who have already killed themselves - who in the opinion of most other people, did not have the slightest reason for it - while on the other hand many seriously ill and severely disabled people fight tenaciously for their lives or for a better quality of life.  Obviously, whether a life is worth living depends not only on external, universal, or objective factors - not only I am a firm believer and fighter for individual attitudes, behavior and thinking how someone want to live their life but as well when they want to end it / pull the ripcord. Anyone whoever thought about themself, about their life, all ...
